Often confused as "Altimers", Alzheimer's disease is one of the leading causes of death in America. It’s a disease of the brain that leads to memory loss, and thinking and behavioral problems. In the beginning, the symptoms of Alzheimers are minimal though they always get worse as time goes on. Soon, the disease interferes with a person’s ability to accomplish everyday tasks.

Alzheimers symptoms always get worse over time.
1. Repeating questions
2. Saying the same thing or repeating the same stories over and over
3. Forgetting everyday tasks like cooking, using appliances, or bathing.
4. Unable to tend to one’s finances such as paying bills.
5. Misplacing things.
6. Getting lost in familiar surroundings.
7. Poor hygiene or wearing the same outfit day after day though the sufferer thinks they’ve bathed and changed their clothes.
Alzheimers Risks
There are certain health conditions that put you at greater risk for developing Alzheimers.
- Diabetes
- Hypertension
- High cholesterol
- Heart disease
- Obesity
- Chronic Stress
- Poor quality or insufficient sleep
- Sedentary lifestyle
- Liver and kidney disease
- Smoking, alcohol, drug use
By following a healthier lifestyle you can prevent or greatly slow the onset of Alzheimers disease.
- Get plenty of exercise – Aim for 30 minutes daily
- Eat a brain-healthy diet – Add salmon, beans, green tea, blueberries, and coffee to your diet
- Keep your mind active – Do a crossword or sudoku puzzle each day, or other "brain games."
- Sleep regularly and restfully – At least 7 hour but no more than 9
- Learn to relax – Stress is the leading cause of nearly all diseases
- Protect your brain – Take a supplement like ginkgo or L-glutamine
