Signs Of Testicular Cancer

With early signs of testicular cancer, more than 90% of patients notice a painless lump or mass in a testicle. They may also have a feeling of heaviness in the scrotum or aching in the lower stomach. Enlargement of the scrotum or swelling is also common in testicular cancer. 

There are patients who experience no symptoms whatsoever in the early states of testicular cancer and it may be found during a routing exam or when being tested for infertility.

Only about 1/4 of testicular cancer patience experience any symptoms before diagnosis, even if the disease has spread to the back of the lower abdomen or lymph nodes. Pain in the lower back is frequently a symptom of later states of testicular cancer. Shortness of breath, chest pain, and/or coughing up blood (hemoptysis) may develop if the cancer has spread to the lungs.

The signs of testicular cancer discussed above may also be caused conditions such as a testicular infection or testicular injury. For example, orchitis causes a painful swelling of the testicles that's caused by a bacterial or viral infection. There's a one in five chance that men who contract mumps as an adult may get orchitis.
